Usb Love & bloggish plans

usb love doodle.jpg

The "Usb Love Doodle" is a slightly autobiographical visual representation of my life lately. I'm every single day in front of my computer (this could be a love story) working and studying and writing for the needs of, I hope to be, the last exam period of my life as an undergraduate. *fingers crossed on that*

On the other news, I have so many things running for blog too guys, so many plans and changes. I will be changing the blog's layout in something more practical. Plus, I almost finished the travelogue of my Iberian Peninsula tour and I want to show you so badly all that tips and pictures waiting patiently in my hard drive. Last but not (at all) least, next week I will be in the happy position -if everything is ready- to announce something really cool here.

So cya very very soon - Debs

Déspina Kortesidou

Déspina Kortesidou was born with the April flowers sometime in the '90s in the sunny peninsula of Greece. She is a graduating master student of neuroscience & metabolism, and a born adventurer.

(3rd person statements sound so official, love it)

She founded In Whirl of Inspiration, back in 2011 when she was (just) a biology student, in the island of Crete. In Whirl of Inspiration started as a creative and writing outlet for when studying molecules, became too monotonous. Recently, she started writing a children book and a not-so-children's book about the civil war in Greece. She has a soft spot for cheese, elder people, and (her own) jokes, but can't tell any as she ruins them by laughing too early. She enjoys sharing advice for eating healthier, or inspiring people to cover themshelves with plants, color and confetti.

When my Photos were Illustrated

Last November I received some emails from Alex. Briefly, she asked me to illustrate a few of my photos. And I accepted. The reasons that I accepted are were obvious and easily understandable, but since you want everything to be so literal, here are the reasons: a) it's the first time that someone asks me to illustrate my photographs, could I refuse? Um, no I couldn't. b) painting is really anxiolytic for this girl and moreover she  had her exams, so here's another reason, c) I like her messy style, strokes here and there, and strokes everywhere d) her dad had his birthday and she gave to him, the following illustrated sailboat. When a picture of yours, becomes a cause for a gift, that's when you can't say no.

I guess that there are some more -totally selfish- reasons which made me take a desicion, but I really can't recall them right now. So let's stick to these. Alex is interested in fashion and portrait illustrations and she improves her techniques every day. She is the sweetest too. Now it's time to take a look at her art!

Thanks Alex, your illustrations made my day! :)

Exams' Journal: One week is left. The supplies go thin and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Shit. At least we still have disco by our side. *Abba for the win*

That Girl & Her illustration Are Back!

books+rule.jpg

After a pleasant musical break of one (?) month of absence, here I am again! Just to catch up with you, I am here to tell you how much I missed you and to wish you a happy new year! For the record the next 20 days will be a bit of peaky here. Why you ask. Circle the right answer: a) it’s because I have tons of things to show to you and I will do that in doses, so that you won't have an overdose of excessive enthusiasm, b) because of the burdened exams state, or c) all of the above.

So until further notice and as I will deal exclusively with my academic books, you are free to enjoy my literary ones. Fair enough, huh?

I hope that these sizes will do the thing, download and enjoy!

1680 x 1050 // 1440 x 900 // 1280 x 800 // tablet

Happy (Warm) Holidays!

"Warm squirrly Christmas" by me

"Warm squirrly Christmas" by me

So, happy happy holidays everybody! Merry Christmas and in case I don't make it in time until the year's change, Happy Near Year too! Excuse me know, but I have books to read in front of the fireplace on my fluffy pillow with that cup of cappuccino that mummy made for me. Pretty awesome bliss, that what this is.

Also, have you checked this year's Santa Tracker? You know, for checking Santa's current location in delivering presents. You can make some really funny customized cards  for your beloved ones!

Geeks Do it Better #1

doodle by me

doodle by me

As I am trying to redesign my blog from scratch, I realized that I don't have a single geek-related feature. Some type of daily, weekly or at least monthly outlet for the geekness in me. So let's all welcome the "geeks do it better" -hopefully- weekly feature! *enthusiastic applause* It will appear in your monitors on Mondays or Tuesdays, 'cause it's proven that your week can't be weak, if you think like a geek. Ok I just made it up. But it's true.

isn't this the best thing you saw today? ...

... I mean the best thing apart from this ?

This week I have for you some cool-until-the-moon-and-back doodles by Lim Heng Swee, which steal the show. You can find these and many more in his Etsy shop.

Have a great geeky week!
