When Harry met Julia: The Story

when Harry met Julia.jpg

I guess that you have already took a look (and a hearing) at the the ingenious playlists by "When Harry met Julia" duo here at the blog. right? When I asked from them to share their wonderful playlists with all you, I knew exactly what I was doing. These pals exchange thematic playlists for years now. And all started back them when we were young at the first year as undergraduates. I will let them narrate their story...

How well can go a proposal that contains the word "gamato" (aka fetch in Greek) in it?

Apparently when Harry suggested Julia "something gamato" before leaving from Athens, that night at Thision, nobody expected that  they would spend their entire student life together with this idea. One package every month, a themed cd, one letter and them in both roles of thesender and the recipient. These with a long letter full of news and confession of the things that happened within these 30 days. That and the things that they forgot to mention when talking on the phone, or was it on purpose so that they could write them down on white papers, sprinkled with the their smells? And like this, at the end of each month, while sticking the last stamp, they were trying to express what they hoped, feared or hid most in their lives described better with melodies than with words. And the distance between them was never a obstacle. And when Heraklion gave its place to Aberdeen and Athens to Lyon, their communication and expression was even more reinforced.
And when they were in the same city again and they could smell clearly the other one, to whistle nonstop the melodies that haunted their unconscious for days and to stand for hours together in the same concerts, they lost the roles that had all these three and a half years.
Fortunately, Debbie came with her freshness and her colorful site to resurrect the music and (most importantly) our memories, through 70+ cd that will be uploaded online and updated they will find their place in the background of your letters , perfumes and confessions.

PS. Aren't they perfect? So perfect that they started playing like proper DJs in various bars in Athens. I will announce their future events obviously. Right? xo

Winter's Pink Sunbeams above Athens

winter+morning+sky+(1).jpg

In the way to Athens the other day, I happened to witness a really magical sunrise. Basically what I would try to transmit to you -almost unsuccessfully- now, could be done really better by a little boy in that aircraft. From the time that the first shy sunbeams popped up in the sky, illuminating the sky's dark blue velvet he started to say: "Look Mom! Wow, wow woow, mum mum look! WOW." and that in all tones of his enthusiastic voice, covering the whole spectrum of excitement and for 10'. real. time.  And believe me, this was the most honest reaction to such a spectacular sight!

And really how many of us, who were in the aircraft that time, were thinking of walking on these soaked with pink magic, fluffy clouds? Few I guess. That's way, while growing old people learn from thick books many boring scientific terms about the water vapors, their condensation and about rain. That clouds are not solid structures and to dance on them you can not. And at that point the magic's sparkle is lost. Or not? Knowledge can be powerful and it drives you away from the sweet ignorance. However, now that you know the functional structure of a model, why do you remove the option to believe in something a little more romantic too?

So, experience the joy of new information and interlard it with your own theories and scenarios. That will be much more interesting, really! :) And now excuse me, but I have to test how high you could fly by jumping on these fluffy cloud- trampolines. Aha.

Which one of you doesn't like festive fairs in  if you do not like festivals in breezy nighs? None, right? Mobile vendors having for you myriad of goodies to look at, searching like a 5-year-old for the most beautiful and shiny. And then you find your frog-prince-ring. Lucky you! And your joy is doubled while you eat an enormous cotton candy. And then you feel sick, by all this sweetness and sugar. :) And of course, the night would not be complete and perfect without some soccer games and some grilled sausages!  yum yummy...

I wish you a relaxing upcoming week!

It's a beautiful winter day. It's sunny but frost, staying motionless for five minutes and you could turn into an ice cube. Although the trees are bare of leaves, there is life in them. The are full of apexes, which in a few months will give birth to hundreds of fresh green leaves. He prepares the vaccines, he is going to graft trees. He dreams of a cherry tree branch on a damson tree, it succeeded last year why not this year? The olives are grown, this year they will fructify, it will be a good harvest. A neglected plant with wild peppers stands there, it's fruits can't be eaten and they are left to rot. Why letting them rot? Let's do them something! I have something in my mind, yes! The day after tomorrow is a good day to tell you, yes on Friday! Fridays are nice, they are the end of the week! I stay there lost in my thoughts for a few minutes, I feel the bitter cold penetrates me to the bones, I feel I must go inside. By opening the door, a delicious smell welcomes me! Ohh they made us egg and bread slices (wait for the recipe!) and we have also homemade yogurt! Small everyday joys!

♫ Manos Xatzidakis - The vals of lost dreams♫

(Scroll down for translation =) )

Εσείς πιστεύετε στην δύναμη των ονείρων; Ωω και πως περάσατε το σαββατοκύριακό σας;

I am happy, very happy! Perhaps it's the first time after a long time that I felt such peaceful and this unbearable, exhilarating freedom without the guilt of a powerpoint presentation deadline the next day or something like this!

No, today was a special day! It was one of these days then you walk on the mole, sky is coloured with all shades of pink, sea is so calm that you could draw something on and you hear the sweet murmur of the sea over the rocks and you dream! On these days you believe again in cities underwater which exist in huge bubbles, with houses made of shells and with seahorses like pets like "trinkets" maybe! -Well yes, i used to believe this sometime!-Lately with all these facts happening, especially in Greece, seems impractical and perhaps impossible that someone could find the strength to make dreams like then, when our dreams smelled mandarin and cinnamon and we hung cherries on our ears. We just were running into fields with chamomile and everything was fine. If you are a city boy/girl it's a pity if you haven't experienced such feelings, could you imagine them now? Anyway it is nice to remind yourself  your right in dreaming, whatever happens, even if all go wrong.

Of course, dreams don’t solve your problems and of course if you don’t have to eat who cares about dreaming and shitty stuff? Well yes, we have more important problems rather than whether Atlantis really exists somewhere deep in the ocean, but unlike with hope which dies always last, dreams are fragile and  they are the first to be burned. Don't burn them, just hide them for a little bit and bring them out one nice day, while walking on the mole and the sky is pink!

♫ Zooey Deschanel - Dream a Little Dream of Me ♫

Well this is my last post for this year, just breath before the new year!

Thank you very much for support in the beginning of my blog, this was/is something very new for me!

You can send me emails about what you would like to see on the blog from the new year and follow the blog's page on bloglovin', facebook, twitter, and youtube to be notified about new post right away!

Well 2011 was for me a very intense, but also happy and creative year! If you ask me, i will tell you that this year was spent like a steam and all the events in my memories are as they happened yesterday. However the didn't, time passes and we are just viewers of our memories. Anyway, this issue raises a lot of writing and I prefer catching it another day!

So I'll leave you with an article I wrote before Christmas and i neglected to show it before. Some of my wishes were fullfilled, some other not yet but hopefully soon! So I wish you a wonderful new year, with health, happiness and be optimistic!

As for me? I will be in a ski chalet in the new year's eve, being plain exhausted after a whole day of snowboarding!

What are your plans for new year's eve?

"Where are you from?"

Well after the “what’s you name” question, the “where are you from?” is the clear and unquestionable winner of the most-stupid-and-annoying-question category. Hmm maybe after the “Do you love mostly your mum or your dad?” or not, I don’t know.  I only know that, from the time you remember yourself, all these not lovable relatives ask you one thing : “Where are you from?”

Well, to tell you the truth the exact and proper answer is: “Well my Dad is from the city (A), my mum from the city (B) and we lived a little bit in the city (A). Although as my dad is a doctor, we moved to the city (C) for a year, then in the town (D) from a while, then in the city (A) again and for the past 10 years we live in the city (E)“ [Note:By the way I am from Greece] The answer  always was: “So you are from the city (E), because you lived there the most years of your school life or because your parents now live there etc”  And then it was me yelling (not very proper) and saying: “No, I’m not from (E) ”

-“So where are you from?”

-“I don’t know”

Well, this is the problem!  That I don’t know. I don’t know where exactly I’m from. I really don’t. I’m not from the cities, where my parents were born, neither from the city where I went  to elementary  and then to high school. I am from the cities that my beloved relatives live now, I am from the cities, where I spent magical vacations, from the village where every winter I go for snowboarding, from the town on the mountain  with this tavern where you can taste an awesome goat soup(ohhh my god, I love this soup when it’s cold outside). And consequently I will be from all these regions I will travel in the future, from all the cities I will love. I am from all these sites, from where my memories are. My memories exactly, that’s the right answer to me to the hated question “where are you from?” That was a thing that a 6year old girl couldn’t explain with words of course.

But now I can and for this Christmas, -best day of the year, or what?- i dream of making such memories that are so worth living in them, like they are really my home.

So I dream of a home more magically decorated than this:
